About Kangaroo Island Stays.
Designed by Award-Winning Architects Troppo
Eagles Nest Lodge is a stunning creation by the renowned Troppo Architects, celebrated for their commitment to sustainability and innovative design. This architectural masterpiece was crafted with a deep understanding of its environment, ensuring the lodge harmoniously blends with the breathtaking landscape of Kangaroo Island's north-west coastline.
The design harnesses the natural beauty of the surroundings while offering ultimate comfort and luxury. In the warmer months, large breezeways and strategically placed windows allow the natural cooling breezes to flow effortlessly through the lodge, while ceiling fans in each room provide added comfort. In the winter months, the warmth of the wood stove envelops the space — and with a touch of ingenious design, the heat is efficiently distributed via radiators in the bedrooms and heated towel rails in the bathrooms.
Surrounded by native vegetation and located on privately owned farmland, Eagles Nest Lodge offers unparalleled privacy, with sweeping coastal views and direct access to a secluded cove. It is the perfect escape for those seeking an unforgettable blend of luxury, sustainability, and nature.
A Legacy of Exceptional Craftsmanship and Sustainability
Constructed in 2010 as part of the exclusive Kangaroo Beach Lodges collection, Eagles Nest Lodge is one of three identical, individually operated luxury retreats (along with Fides Lodge and Headland Lodge), each managed under its own stewardship.
Eagles Nest is ideally positioned on a pristine stretch of the island's coast, nestled within privately owned farmland and surrounded by a captivating mix of native vegetation and awe-inspiring coastal views. The landscape’s beauty is matched only by the privacy and tranquility of the location, making it an idyllic escape.
The vision for Eagles Nest Lodge was clear: create a structure that respects and responds to its stunning natural surroundings while providing every luxury for discerning travellers in a remote setting. Emphasising open, unobstructed views of the coastline and the secluded cove, the design seamlessly integrates into the rolling hills, ensuring it never overpowers the land it resides on.
Sustainable Australian Design at Its Finest
Under the guidance of Phil Harris from Troppo Architects, the vision came to life with meticulous attention to detail. The construction of the lodge prioritised Australian-made materials, including locally sourced native hardwoods, zincalume, anodized aluminium, and composite fibre boards. This choice of materials reflects a modern Australian architectural style — one that is both timeless and gently anchored to its environment.
